Esponda Move-Out Guide

Moving out does not need to be stressful. Follow this guide to leave your space in good condition, avoid charges for damage, and help make turnover smooth for the next group of brothers.

🔑 1. Know What Stays and What Goes

        • If you brought it in, it must go out. Any furniture or large items that weren’t provided by the house corporation must be removed. That includes couches, mini fridges, desks, etc.
        • Do not leave behind any personal belongings, even if you think someone might want them. Unclaimed items are considered abandoned and will result in removal fees.

📦 2. In-Room Summer Storage

*Available only to students with a two-year housing agreement who are staying in the same room*

If ESPONDA is offering summer storage options to your chapter:

        • Complete the Summer Storage Form before the deadline.
        • Clearly label your items with your full name and chapter.
        • Remove all your valuables from the house.
        • If you have any questions about Summer Storage please contact your Esponda representative.

If Esponda is not offering storage for your chapter, you are responsible for finding an off-site storage solution.

    🧳 3. Pack Up Everything

    Start early and organize:

          • Clothes: Fold them into suitcases, bags, or bins.
          • Electronics, books, toiletries, and supplies: Use boxes or bins for easy transport.
          • Check drawers, under beds, and closets to make sure you don’t leave anything behind.

    🖼️ 4. Decorations & Wall Items

          • All posters, flags, whiteboards, and décor must be removed.
          • Command strips/hooks must be removed properly—slowly peel them off to avoid paint damage.
          • Any damage caused by décor or improper removal will be deducted from your deposit.

🧹 5. Clean Your Room & Shared Spaces

Your room should be “broom clean” at minimum:

            • Vacuum or sweep all floors.
            • Take out all trash—do not leave trash bags in the room or hallway.
            • Wipe down surfaces if visibly dirty.
            • Close and lock all windows and doors.

You’re also jointly responsible for the condition of any common areas:

            • Remove your belongings from the kitchen, living room, bathrooms, etc.
            • Make sure shared areas are left clean and clear of trash and clutter.

    📸 6. Final Walkthrough & Move-Out Form

    Before you leave:

          • Report any damage to walls, furniture, or fixtures.
          • Return your key to the designated return person.
          • Take clear photos of your cleaned room (ideally from the doorway and corners).
          • Submit your Move-Out Form with photos included.

    💡 Pro Tip

Anything you leave behind will be thrown away or donated—and you may be charged for the removal. Take five extra minutes to double check drawers, closets, and under beds.
